Earaches are quite common when one catches a cold and more so in children. They can also be caused by injuries to the ear, pressure and also a blocked nasal passage. They are painful and also quite a nuisance as they keep recurring and one may find themselves rushing to the pharmacy every now and then for a cure. There are numerous treatments at the chemist but they cost money. Luckily, there are some home remedies for earaches that can really help save money and time.
Onions are readily available in most homes and are quite inexpensive. Onion juice has the ability to kill bacteria and various microorganisms. The juice is warmed on teaspoon and poured directly into the ear. It can also be crushed, tied into a cloth then placed over the aching ear.
Garlic kills various bacteria and fungi. It also acts as a pain reliever. Two cloves should be crushed and the juice poured into the infected ear. The garlic juice can also be mixed with sesame oil and poured into the infected ear.
Heat will many times relieve pain and swelling on any part of the body. A hot water bottle or hot pack place over the ear can do wonders to relieve the pain.
If one has a buzzing feeling the ear, olive oil works well to stop this. It also works by killing any bacteria causing the infection. The oil should be warmed and poured into the ear or poured on to a cotton bud then plugged into the aching ear.
When ginger is crushed and its juice poured into an infected ear, it reduces pain and any swelling that has occurred. It can also be mixed with olive oil and after settling for a few minutes then poured into the aching ear.
Apple cider vinegar
Applied at least two times a day, basil leaf juice will help cure ear infection. The basil should be crushed then the juice extracted.
This is one herb that is also believed to be a cure for numerous ailments. It has anti fungal and antibiotic properties and when it’s juice is poured into an infected ear, it heals it. It also acts as a pain reliever.
When swabbed around the ear canal, honey also acts as a home treatment for ear infections.
This is another natural home remedy for earaches. A teaspoon of Bishop’s weed oil mixed with mustard oil warmed and poured into the infected ear provides healing.
Set the blow dryer to warm heat and blow it towards the ear if water has gotten into it. This should not be done for too long.
It is important to note that for small children only heat or steam should be tried at home and then a doctor consulted. As for the adult if the home remedies do not work for you, consult a doctor.
